KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA – A strategic memorandum of understanding for Guizhou-Malaysia cross-border trade cooperation was signed in Guiyang, China on 4 August 2026, marking the formal launch of two-way trade, cultural-tourism exchange, digital trade and talent development between Guizhou Province and Malaysia.
The signing ceremony brought together key enterprise representatives from both countries, including Mr. Ao Zhongliang, General Manager of Guizhou Yima Import and Export Co., Ltd.; Ms. Joyce Woo, Chairman of Metrovex Technologies Sdn Bhd; Mr. Joshua Choo, Chairman of Baoli Yunjie Digital Technology (M) Sdn Bhd; and Mr. Ge Yi, General Manager of Guizhou Jintaiyang International Trade Co., Ltd. All parties reached strategic consensus under the framework of “Guizhou products going global, Malaysian goods entering Guizhou,” laying the groundwork for a sustainable two-way trade loop.

The two sides also confirmed the first batch of import and export products.
Two-Way Trade List Confirmed
On the trade front, both sides confirmed an initial list of import and export goods. Guizhou will export products including Jincili pear-based goods, Fanji matcha, spicy potato chips, La Sao chilli products, along with Guizhou-specialty potatoes and chillies, leveraging Malaysia’s established offline retail network, overseas warehousing and logistics, and cross-border livestream ecosystem to reach Southeast Asian consumers.
At the same time, well-known Malaysian brands will be introduced into Guizhou, including Nestle Malaysia Milo beverages, chocolates, HSS Holdings biscuits, packaged cakes, latex pillows and latex mattresses — broadening consumer choice and establishing resource complementarity between the two markets.

Cooperation Extends To Tourism And Talent Development
This China-Malaysia ASEAN trade cooperation goes beyond conventional goods trade, integrating cultural tourism, digital marketing and talent cultivation. Both sides will combine Guizhou’s mountain tourism, ethnic folk culture and intangible heritage with Malaysia’s Southeast Asian tourism offerings, working on joint tourism promotion, tourist-source exchange and route development.
A clear medium-to-long-term target has been set: within three years, 300 Guizhou-themed cultural-tourism chain stores will open across Malaysia, combining product sales, cultural exhibits, ethnic-culture experiences and cross-border consulting services under one roof.
ASEAN Cross-Border Anchor Training Programme Launched
On the talent front, the ASEAN cross-border livestream anchor training programme has been officially launched, focusing on cross-border e-commerce livestreaming, tourism promotion and overseas brand operation. The programme aims to train 1,000 local ASEAN livestream anchors within three years, building a sustainable local digital marketing and cultural communication team to support long-term bilateral industry growth.
Reaching A Market Of 600 Million ASEAN Consumers
With Malaysia positioned as Guizhou’s strategic pivot into Southeast Asia, the cooperation reaches more than 600 million ASEAN consumers. It introduces an integrated cross-border trade model combining overseas warehouses, physical chain stores, digital marketing and talent incubation, helping Guizhou shift from pure product export toward brand-building in the region. Among the Malaysian representatives at the signing, Metrovex Technologies Chairman Joyce Woo attended on behalf of the company.
Participating enterprises said they will continue to refine implementation plans and maintain regular communication, expanding cooperation across trade, cultural tourism and talent exchange. The enterprise-linked model is expected to serve as a replicable benchmark for Guizhou’s export-oriented economy and deepen economic ties between Southwest China and Southeast Asia.
