LRT3 Boosts Connectivity, Ready to Open by September 2025

Enhanced Connectivity for Western Klang Valley

PETALING JAYA: The new LRT3 line, set to launch next September, is poised to improve connectivity across the western Klang Valley, capable of serving 200,000 passengers daily.

Route Details and Capacity Expansion

Known as the Shah Alam Line, this 37km route will link Kampung Johan Setia, Klang, to Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, with a starting capacity of 6,210 passengers per hour. By 2028, five additional stations will increase this to 7,341 pphpd.

Government Support and Infrastructure Expansion

Government funding includes seven train sets, 150 electric buses, and two depots, demonstrating a strong commitment to enhancing commuter services.

Prasarana’s Commitment to Transit Growth

Prasarana CEO Mohd Azharuddin Mat Sah shared updates before Rapid KL’s anniversary, revealing that actual reinstatement costs are about RM4.2 billion, covering both stations and infrastructure improvements.

Final Preparations for Launch

With the project nearly complete, regulatory testing and approvals are scheduled for April 2025, with additional stations opening by 2028.
