Tabung Haji Appeals Reach 84,000 as Pilgrims Seek Available Slots
KUALA LUMPUR: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, revealed that the Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) has received 84,000 appeals from individuals hoping to obtain a haj slot left vacant by those unable to attend this year.
He noted that 80,000 of these applicants have confirmed their willingness to pay the full cost of the pilgrimage.
Pilgrim Confirmation and Flight Arrangements
So far, 91% of the 31,600 approved haj pilgrims have confirmed their travel plans. The remaining vacancies will be allocated to those on the appeal list.
“Alhamdulillah, we have received confirmation from 91% of eligible pilgrims, and all have been issued their flight details.
“We remain optimistic that the Saudi authorities will approve an additional 10,000 haj slots for Malaysia,” he said during an event where the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council donated to hospitals and medical centers under the Rahmah Madani Ramadan programme on Thursday (March 13).

Awaiting Quota Decision from Saudi Arabia
Mohd Na’im added that Malaysia has submitted an official request for a quota increase but is still awaiting a response from Saudi Arabia.
“There is no update yet on when we will receive a reply regarding the additional quota request,” he stated.
