KUALA LUMPUR: Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, the Regent of Johor, recently held a significant meeting focusing on the future of Malaysian football with Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh and FAM president Tan Sri Hamidin Amin in Johor Bahru.
The meeting followed the announcement of the 2025 Budget and addressed important issues regarding the national team and youth development initiatives.
This comes on the heels of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s announcement of RM15 million for football development, targeting top coaches, training upgrades, and player incentives.
“Tunku Mahkota Ismail, the Regent of Johor, received Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Johor Chief Minister Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi on Oct 23, where current affairs and Johor-related topics were discussed.
“Also in attendance were FAM president Hamidin and Sports Minister Hannah, discussing plans for the Malaysian football team and its ongoing development,” the statement highlighted.
These discussions represent a unified effort among the government, FAM, and Johor royalty to advance Malaysia’s football objectives.
With investments targeting the national, Under-18, and Under-13 teams, the initiative aims to enhance Malaysia’s international football presence and nurture local talent.
