The individual accused of murdering interior designer Muhammad Sharqawi Abu Bakar, 36, is scheduled to be charged in the Petaling Jaya Court tomorrow. This information was confirmed today by Petaling Jaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Shahrulnizam Jaafar.
The suspect, aged 50 and unemployed, was one of three people arrested by the police at a Kuala Lumpur apartment on Sept 20. Police investigations have pointed to theft as the motive behind the tragic incident.
Shahrulnizam stated that the suspect allegedly entered the victim’s house with the intent to steal. When confronted by Muhammad Sharqawi, a violent struggle ensued, leading to the victim being fatally wounded.
Muhammad Sharqawi was discovered on Sept. 16 at his home in Persiaran Meranti, Bandar Sri Damansara, with more than 20 stab wounds. Initially, the case was classified as a break-in, but authorities later redefined it as a robbery leading to death when personal items were reported missing.
