Mother Calls for Justice After Daughter’s Fatal Accident

A Tragic Loss

BUKIT MERTAJAM: A 21-year-old woman, Lee Zi Rou, lost her life in a tragic accident on Jalan Bukit Tengah. A container fell from a lorry, crushing the car she was in on Wednesday (Nov 13) at 9:30am.

Seeking Accountability

Her mother, Lim Sheau Ling, 42, is calling for legal action against the truck driver and the company responsible. “This pain is unimaginable, but I want justice for my daughter. No one else should have to endure this,” she said with tears in her eyes.

Minister Offers Condolences

Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong visited the family to offer his sympathies. He also confirmed that the family would receive support through the Social Security Organisation (Socso).

A Final Conversation

Lee, admired for her dedication and kindness, managed to call her mother before she succumbed to her injuries. “Mummy, it hurts so much, please help me,” she said. Lim rushed to the scene but was unable to save her daughter.

Socso Aid Announced

Minister Sim stated that Lee, employed as a clerk, had been contributing to Socso since October 2022. The family will receive RM3,000 for funeral expenses, RM913.50 in monthly payments, and access to counselling and legal services.

Remembering Lee

Lee’s cremation is planned for Sunday (Nov 17) at the Berapit Crematorium. Her family and loved ones are left mourning a profound loss that has shaken their lives forever.
