75 Undocumented Foreigners Detained in Johor Immigration Crackdown

JOHOR BARU: The Johor Immigration Department has arrested 75 undocumented foreign nationals in a two-day enforcement operation conducted in two locations across the state.

State Immigration Director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus stated that the raids took place on Tuesday (March 4) and Wednesday, with most of the detainees being Myanmar and Indonesian nationals.

Pandan Wholesale Market Raid Results in 35 Arrests

“The first operation, conducted at 3pm in the Pandan wholesale market area—an identified high-risk zone—led to inspections of 20 business premises and 66 individuals.

“Following the checks, 35 individuals were found to have committed immigration-related offences and were detained,” he said on Thursday.

Midnight Raid in Bandar Baru Permas Jaya Nets 40 More Arrests

A second operation took place in Bandar Baru Permas Jaya at 12.30am, where officers inspected nine shophouses and screened 64 foreign nationals.

“As a result of this operation, 40 undocumented migrants were arrested,” he said, citing public complaints about an increasing number of foreigners working illegally.

Details of Those Detained and Next Steps

The detainees consisted of 30 Myanmar nationals (nine women), 30 Indonesians (19 women), 11 Bangladeshi men, two Pakistani men, and two Vietnamese men, aged between 18 and 55.

Additionally, seven individuals were served notices to assist in the investigation, while all detainees have been transferred to the Setia Tropika Immigration Depot for further processing.
