Floods Displace Thousands: Kelantan Hit Hardest

106,000 Evacuated Nationwide

KUALA LUMPUR: Floods across Malaysia have forced over 106,500 individuals into evacuation centres as of 8 PM on Friday (Nov 29). The situation remains critical in Kelantan, Terengganu, and other regions.

Kelantan: The Most Affected State

Kelantan recorded the highest number of evacuees at 72,360 in 261 PPS, up significantly from 65,993 earlier in the day. Pasir Mas is the most impacted district, with nearly 24,000 evacuees, followed by Tumpat and Kota Bharu. Rivers in the state have breached danger levels, intensifying concerns.

Terengganu’s Rising Waters and Warnings

Terengganu reported 24,754 evacuees, with Besut housing the majority. Warnings have been issued for rising water levels in key rivers like Sungai Besut and Sungai Kampung La.

Other States Feel the Impact

In Kedah, numbers rose to 6,037 victims, while Johor saw 305 displaced as of Friday evening. Other states like Melaka, Perlis, and Selangor are also grappling with rising water levels. Authorities have confirmed three fatalities, urging continued vigilance.
