Bangladeshi Man Arrested in Johor Over Alleged Animal Abuse

A 45-year-old Bangladeshi man has been taken into police custody in Johor after a viral video showed him allegedly beating a dog. The incident occurred on February 24 at a shophouse in Senai and was widely shared on social media. Instagram user Updateinfo11 uploaded the footage, sparking public outrage and leading a 33-year-old Malaysian citizen to file a police report. Authorities acted swiftly, arresting the suspect in response to the growing concern.

Legal Charges and Court Proceedings

Kulai OCPD Asst Comm Tan Seng Lee confirmed the suspect was detained and is being investigated under Section 428 of the Penal Code and Section 29(1)(a) of the Animal Welfare Act 2015. He is scheduled to appear before the Kulai Magistrate’s Court on February 28. If convicted, the suspect may face severe penalties, including fines and imprisonment.
